Received Parking Ticket?

Why did I receive a Parking Ticket?

The main reason for receiving a parking violation notice (i.e. yellow parking ticket) is because your vehicle was illegally parked on private property and/or in violation of a property’s parking rules.

Important information about Parking Violation Notices

If you have received a yellow parking violation notice, you have two options: pay your parking violation or request a review online or in-person within 15 days;

Pay your parking violation or;
request a review online or in-person within 15 days

If you do not pay or dispute your parking ticket (i.e. Parking Violation Notice) within 15 days of the date of violation, a Notice of Impending Conviction (NIC) will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle. At this point you can still dispute your ticket or pay the fine.

If you do not respond by the due date on the NIC, a Notice of Fine and Due Date (NFDD) showing the set fine, plus court costs will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle. This will result in an automatic conviction that is registered with the Ministry of Transportation.

This means, if the set fine including the additional court costs is not paid by the due date shown on the NFDD, the offence becomes eligible for plate denial. The matter then goes to the Ministry of Transportation and the Municipality in which the ticket was issued is no longer involved.

What are your Options?

You have two options after receiving a ticket:

you may pay the ticket to municipality in which you received your ticket or;
dispute the ticket (request review of the ticket)

All municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area have a process to dispute the parking violation. The Administrative Penalty System makes requesting a review faster, easier and more convenient.

Do I have to pay the Penalty fee on my ticket if I request a review?

If you request a review, do not pay your parking violation until a decision has been made by a Screening Officer. Payment made before a Screening Review will void your review because your case will be considered resolved.

Authorized Representative

If you are the registered owner of the vehicle, you can have a representative act on your behalf. An authorized representative includes:

a Lawyer
A Licensed Paralegal
A person Authorized under the Law Society Act

Interpreter

Your Screening Review will be conducted in the English language. If you need an interpreter, you may bring a person to assist you. If you cannot bring someone to assist you, an over-the-telephone interpretation service may be available during the Screening Review

Rescheduling a Screening Review

If you or your representative are unavailable to attend a scheduled in-person Screening Review, you may request an adjournment. This request must be made in-person at a Screening Office by 4 PM at least two business days before the scheduled Screening Review. You can only request one adjournment for a scheduled Screening Review.

If you do not attend your in-person Screening Review, you will be responsible for a Screening Non-Appearance Fee, in addition to the parking penalty. You will not be eligible for a further review or appeal of the parking violation notice.

Important: The City of Toronto does not send emails about outstanding parking fines or issue reminders through a third party. If you receive such an email, do not click on any of the links – simply delete the email. Outstanding parking tickets or violation notices can be viewed and paid using the city’s parking ticket services online application

Eligibility for a Screening Request

You have 15 days from your Penalty Date to submit a screening request.

After the 15 days, you have 30 days to request an extension of time to submit the screening request. You must have a Penalty Notice that starts with the letter P, A, B or V only. You cannot use this service to schedule a screening for a Parking ticket that starts with the letter M. You, or an authorized representative may use this service, but not both

Failure to Appear

Failure to appear at the time and date of screening will result in an affirmation of the Penalty, and the following fees will be applied:

$50.00 Non-Appearance Fee
$25.00 Late Payment Fee
$10.00 MTO Search Fee (P Penalty Notice only)

Check Screening Request Status

It is your responsibility to follow-up on the status of your online screening request. You can check the status by searching your Penalty Notice number below. If you completed a screening request in person, you cannot see the status of your request online, as it is only for previously submitted online requests.

If your scheduled online screening request was subsequently rescheduled or updated in person, you may not see the revised status online, as this service displays information from online activity only and not in-person activity.

Important: To use Mississauga’s online portal to pay a ticket, a non-refundable convenience fee of $3.00 applies

City of Brampton | Ticket Info

Brampton Ticket | Payment Options

Option 1: Online

When paying online a processing fee of $1.50 per ticket will be added to the total. If you require further clarification please contact the City by dialing 311 (or 905-874-2404) and a customer service agent can assist with your questions.

Important: Remit the total payable as shown on the notice. Please enclose originals of both the credit card payment slip and the ticket (offence notice). Please do NOT send cash in the mail and allow sufficient mailing time.

Important: Make all cheques and money orders payable to “City of Brampton” and write the number of the Offence Notice on the front. Post-dated cheques will NOT be accepted. Dishonoured cheques and credit cards will be subject to an administrative fee and, if the period of deficiency causes the ticket due date to lapse and the fine to go into default, an additional fee will be charged and information may be forwarded to a credit bureau.

Notice to Ontario Motorists

Failure to pay the Penalty Notice (and related fees) imposed upon affirmation will result in your Ontario Vehicle Permit not being renewed and no new permit being issued to you until the Penalty Notice and all related fees have been paid.
